Summer MakeUp Trends This 2020 As Seen In Your Favourite Celebrities

With all the crazy things that have happened all over the world in the last six months, we did not even realize we are already halfway through the year. While still far from life as we know it, by the looks of it, things are slowly looking better. In fact, some of us are already able to head out. Summer is just around the corner and even if we will still be staying inside our homes for the most part – there is just no excuse not to look great while we are at it.

These Summer Makeup Trends this 2020 will make you look extra good – even if it is just for a self-mounted photoshoot right at the comfort of your home or a quick run to your local grocery store. Take cues from some of your favourite celebrities and influencers.

Here is a rundown of some of the coolest summer makeup trends created with trending makeup products that we cannot wait for you to pull off!

Overblushed

While it has undeniably been around for a couple of seasons now – the overbrushed look is still a makeup trend this summer. What is so cool about this trend is that it is extremely easy even for makeup beginners. At most, you will just be needing one product. Just prep your face, put on some blush – whether it is in cream, gel or powder type. Place it on your cheeks and don’t forget to put some on your nose bridge too.

For this look, we highly recommend the Jelly Pop Flush Blush by e.l.f. Cosmetics and if you are willing to splurge – the NARS Orgasm. These two items are some of the top trending makeup products for 2020 – because they are so versatile, they might just stay on top for long so you might as well get your hands on them.

Glittery Business

Truth be told, a lot of us have quite some mixed feelings with glitter. It is absolutely fun to put on but also annoyingly messy when you’re trying to take it off. It just ends up spreading everywhere! However, summer is the perfect reason to shine – and by that we mean glitter goes anywhere. Take cues from Gigi Hadid in one of her fashion shows.

To pull off a nice and sleek glitter look, we highly recommend the e.l.f Glitter primer to prep those lids. If you are more of the single-but-versatile color type when it comes to makeup, the Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Eye Liquid might be the perfect product for you. On the other hand, if you are someone who enjoys having a pretty huge palette right at your disposal – try a glittery-but-neutral palette in the form of Urban Decay Party Favor Moondust Eyeshadow palette.

Neon, Neon, Neon

In a previous article, we talked about how neon is one of the nail colors to try this year. By the looks of it, this color palette is highly recommended in other categories too. Take it from Dua Lipa  who uses a rainbow of neon colors on her eyes and pairs it with equally eye-catching and colorful tops. If you’re still not convinced – take cue from Oscar De La Renta’s 2020 spring collection where the models basically sashayed away in draped evening gowns with neon colored makeup on their eyes.

You might be surprised to know this but this summer makeup trend might be easier to pull off than you think. To start off, check out Huda Beauty Beauty Obsession Palette in Electric as this compact eyeshadow palette has literally every color you would need to pull off a playful neon look. Another must-try product for this summer makeup trend is the Morphe 35B Color Artistry Palette

Eyeliner That Floats

We have started seeing more of this specific make up technique since late last year and now that it is here to stay for the summer, at least – we are really not complaining. You may have seen it already on beauty influencer Nikki or the beautiful Shay Mitchell.Truth be told, this summer makeup trend might be the trickiest one to pull off as it entails a lot of precision and a good sense of ratio and balance. It might take a couple of video tutorials to get it right but we are pretty sure the fulfillment you will get once you get it right is going to feel amazing.

Some of our top suggestions would be the Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen for a classic liquid eyeliner look. If you are looking for a product that is a bit more sleek, opt for the L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Perfect Slim. If you are feeling extra playful, this trend looks great in a bright color too. The ColourPop BFF Liquid Liner comes in many different colors so you can by one or two – and maybe even all!v

Touch of Watercolor

Don’t we all just love playful eye color? Even if you go easy on the makeup on all the other areas of your face , having eye catching eye makeup (see what we did there?) always does the trick. Normally, you would probably opt for neutral colors and earthy tones. Glitters and Neon might be too much for you, we get that. Why not go for something that is a little bit in between? Watercolor Eyeshadow seems to be one of the hottest trends for this year. Take the models for the previous Christian Siriano show for instance. Even Kylie Jenner went on in this trend with her own take – creating a clean cat eye and exchanging the dark hues for more fun ones.

The good news is that this summer makeup trend can be created using your existing makeup palettes. Just water down your chosen shades a bit  and use softer strokes when applying it on your eyelids.

Stained And Glossy

Now that we have talked a bit about other techniques and makeup trends this summer that you can use for other parts of your face, let us talk about a bit of lip service, shall we? At one point, we all loved matte AF lips and solid colors. This time around, we are welcoming back with open arms stained and glossy lips. Take cues from the just-bitten lip look during the Chanel Fashion show. Victoria Secret Angel Sara Sampaio, wore it with elaborate eyes and pulled it off quite well. Just dab on a bit of lip stain and then swipe on some gloss and you would be ready to go!

For this category, two products top our list : the Rouge Coco Glass in Crystal Clear has been getting a whole lot of reviews from several beauty influencers and celebrities alike. On the other hand, the drugstore favourite, Revlon Balm Stain continues to prove itself as a pretty solid bang-for-your-buck-kind of find.

BONUS : Soft and Fluffy Brows

Remember when we all had overlined, boxy and overdone eyebrows? Yeah, we do not want to remember that dark part of our makeup history, too. Thankfully, that trend has long sailed and we are more than happy to let you know that soft and fluffy brows are very much in for the season as they should be.

Instead of using eyebrow products that leave you with way-too-obvious and in-your-face marks, why not opt for ones which provide you the closest to the real deal. For this, the Glossier Boy Brow tops our list alongside the Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow + Volumizing Eyebrow Gel

BONUS : Colored Lashes

Colored mascaras have been in existence for as long as we can remember but they are probably the kind of makeup product that piques your curiosity – you take a look at and then casually place it back in the rack. Next time, you may want to reconsider taking it to the checkout counter because Colored Lashes are in this season!
