We use our hands and feet to do most of our regular tasks. Hence, it becomes prone to all sorts of diseases.

Here are some natural nail care tips you can do – even from the comfort of your home!

Keep your Hands Clean

This is the most basic yet the most important rule to take note of. Always remember to wash your hands. Not only does it keep them pretty, it is also healthy and hygienic. According to Ava Shamba, the author of “Heal Your Skin”, an easy way to achieve healthy nail tips is to rub some soap on tooth brush and is it gently to scrub your nails. By doing so, you are able to remove dirt and dead skin without the use of harsh or expensive nail care products.

Regularly trim your nails

Long, painted, and pointed nails look absolutely stunning – no doubt! However, it is recommended to keep them short, especially if there are already signs of breakage. Fingernails grow slowly at an average of 3.5 millimeters (one-tenth of an inch) per month. Make sure to find time to clip your nails every week or every two weeks. This will help avoid further dirt that may cling to r long nails. Also, shorter nails are much easier to manage. If you are working a regular 9 to 5, they also look more professional and neat.

Use a moisturizer

We know we said wash your hands but we meant that you keep it in moderation! Too much hand washing and nail exfoliation may result in skin dryness and unhealthy nail bed. Use a nail moisturizer or cream, and make sure that the elements sink deep into your nails.

Leave your cuticles alone

While it is very tempting to remove or cut our cuticles, note that they are very significant in preventing harmful bacteria and possible infections to land to our precious nails.

Circumvent from using harsh nail polish

Colored and beautiful nails may sound so much and it is also so easy to indulge yourself in having that. What you need to do is avoid using nail polishes with toxic chemicals such as formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate, and toluene, as they can make your nails brittle and split. Remember to read the labels before purchasing a nail polish.

Don’t bite your nails

Biting your nails make the tips of your fingernails look uneven and misshapen. You’re also making them exposed to the saliva from your mouth which may lead to weak and brittle nails. Furthermore, it is really not a good habit to place your hands as it usually contains dirt and doing so brings them into a vulnerable organ like your mouth. Not only is it unhygienic, it is also risky for our overall health and well-being.

While good shoes take you to good places, neat and beautiful nails lead us to healthier hands and feet that we can bank to take us wherever we want to go.Needless to say, taking good care of your nails means taking care of your health and your life.
