When social injustices just like the death of George Floyd occur, it is a stark warning call that things still must change, and desperately. In times like these, it’s understandable that beauty can want a frivolous and admittedly inappropriate a part of our lives to think about, coupled with care about. But, it is also important to recollect that there’s power in beauty. over just dramatic Instagram makeovers and DIY hair cutting tutorials, beauty could be a conversation starter, a social unifier, a record of our cultural history and, most significantly, has the facility to incite change.
More than just performative support, these are the wonder brands putting their money where their mouth is to further the Black Lives Matter movement and end institutionalized racism within the UK and globally.
- Charlotte Tilbury
Charlotte Tilbury made their commitment to Black Lives Matter known with an Instagram post confirming donations to three organizations that strive for change and racial justice: ACLU, Black Lives Matter and NAACP.
- Clarins
Educational organization, The Conscious Kid, that aims to scale back bias promote ‘positive identity development in youth’, announced on Instagram on Tuesday that beauty brand Clarins has donated $50,000 to support the charity’s rent relief fund for Black families.
- Tata Harper
Natural skincare brand Tata Harper showed their support for the Black Lives Matter movement with donations to five organizations working against racial injustice including:
– The Equal Justice Initiative
– The Emergency Release Fund
– NAACP
– Black Lives Matter
– Color Of Change
- Pixy Beauty
Cult skincare brand Pixi Beauty announced on Monday that they are making a donation to Color Of Change. The charity works to create ‘campaigns powerful enough to end practices that unfairly hold Black people back, and champion solutions that move us all forward. Until justice is real.’
Pixi also posted the below statement confirming their support for the BLM movement:
‘What affects one impacts everyone, whether directly or indirectly, and we stand alongside those fighting against injustice and racial discrimination. At Pixi, we believe in equality for all.
‘We hear you, we see you and we support you.
‘We are making a donation to @ColorOfChange to support their efforts. We believe in positive change and encourage you to join us in listening, learning and actively working towards a better world.
‘Everyone has a responsibility to stand up, be heard and be the change, it cannot come soon enough.’
- REN Skincare
As well as posting a series of Instagram stories advising their followers on ways to require action, specifically the way to become a non-optical ally, REN Skincare have donated to Black Lives Matter and encouraged others to try to to so additionally.
The brand also shared the below statement:
‘We substitute solidarity with you. We believe justice for people + planet. It isn’t about staying silent. It’s about using our voice to form change. We refuse to simply accept that things can’t be changed.’

Summarising all of our thoughts, NYX Cosmetics confirmed that they will be donating money to the Minnesota Freedom Fund and Black Lives Matter via an Instagram post that simply said ‘It’s not ok’.
